The first piercing that i am aware of (and yes, i could be wrong here!) dates back to about 1400 B.C., it is a statue carved of the famous paraoh in ancient Egypt. The sculptor carved out a hole above the navel from which, most likely, hung some kind of beautiful Golden jewelry. Ofcourse, as with many ancient artifacts the jewelry was stolen centuries ago.
